The Pin Pallet EscapementIn the Horological encyclopedia by Guenther Glaser it says, that the Pin Pallet Escapement was invented by Perron in 1798 and used in a big way on pocket-watches by G. D. Roskopf from 1813 - 1889. But who is Perron? I can't tell you, as I don't know myself. But what I do know is, that the variant of Pin Pallet Escapement shown here, is used mainly in alarm-clocks. |
Good value and good quality! Yes, the Pin Pallet Escapement managed the ridge walk between price and performance with style. The escapement manages this, because the escape wheel and the Pin Pallet fork are usually pressed of brass and due to the easy construction does not cause technical problems at production. The pallets are formed through hardened steel-pins, and therefore are easy to be manufactured. The considerable good running result is due to the relatively high freedom it gives to the balance. Definitely more freedom, than the balance of the cylinder escapement has got. |
